The time has finally come for me to begin sharing party details!! As I mentioned before, Mr. B’s one year birthday party was a few weekends ago. B’s Momma is one talented, creative lady, and the party was a smashing success. I was blown away by the details. The pictures don’t even begin to do the party justice. World’s Best Roommate award goes to Cassi Lee Sommerville. What a fun year it has been!! I had no idea when I signed up to live with this chica just how much fun I was in for. I cannot even begin to name all the thing fun things we have done together. We’re definitely partners in crime, and the thought of her graduating makes me slightly depressed. I’m proud of her, though. In less than three months, she’ll be starting Physical Therapy school at Loma Linda University in California. Those of us who love her most are more than sad to see her go, but so very proud of her.

Back when I was planning to move to Loma Linda, Cass told me she felt jipped that I was moving so far without taking pictures of her. My plans changed and I stayed, but now she’s the one taking off. There was no way we were going to let her leave without doing a photoshoot. It was a blast! She is SO much fun and her pictures were a blast! There are TONS because we tried so many different things.

Cassi isn’t marching in this graduation since her brother’s gymnastics homeshow is the same weekend. She’s a dedicated sister. So, she got her “marching” in during the photoshoot…

Cassi LOVES to read. She reads more than most college students I know. It was only fitting to incorporate some of her books into the pictures. Love how these turned out. Thanks, Shelby, for letting us use your car to get the trunk out there!

Love you, Cassi Lee! You are so much fun! Thanks for being such a fun roommate. I’m sure gonna miss you, but so grateful for the bazillion memories we’ve made. Hope you enjoy your pictures!

They have grown so much. Beautiful on the inside AND outside. I am so proud.

Kim wanted pictures of them with the things they are “in to” right now. They may look similar, but they have completely different personalities and interests. Their outfit selections fit their personalities PERFECTLY. The weather fought against us, but we battled the rain and got some fun shots. These were nearly all taken while it was misting rain, hence the slightly frizzing hair. Regardless of the weather’s effects, I am in love with the pictures. How I miss my sweet girls!

I’m posting two separate posts from this shoot. The first one is of the girls in their “hobby wear,” the second post will be sister shots.

Mickynzie is very creative and artsy. She loves playing musical instruments, knitting, crafts, and sewing. One of her most recent projects was to help modify dresses for their homeschool talent show. She added bustles to prom dresses and fabric to hats to make INCREDIBLE looking costumes. This is not one of the dresses she made, but it is representative of her interest in dressing up old-fashioned. She is growing into a beautiful young lady. I love watching her grow from the little girl I babysat into a young woman and friend.

Brenna is my sweet middle child. Some people think being the middle child is rough, but Brenna does it beautifully. Her current passions are her knife collection, her gun, and the Dallas Cowboys. There’s something special about our Brenna. I think the sparkle in her eyes and the dusting of freckles across her nose say it all…

This picture gets me. LOVE my photogenic girl.

Baby Shay. Not such a baby anymore. Our sweet girl turned SEVEN this past Sabbath. I cannot believe it’s been seven years since I watched her enter this world. From the day she joined us, Shay has been our little spark plug. She has a hilarious sense of humor and a sunshiney presence about her. Shay is 100% cowgirl these days. It is fairly common to find her dressed in the following garb…

Hargrove Family Circus: Details

“Birthdays at this age just aren’t as big of a deal as they used to be,” I stated in a conversation with my roommate. “I don’t mind celebrating over lunch or something, but I don’t think we should make a big deal about it.” “What if we did something super fun?” Cassi questioned. “It’s so soon and I can’t come up with any cool ideas,” I replied. After bouncing around few ideas, Cassi struck a goldmine. “What about a murder mystery?” My interest was immediately piqued and google was quickly consulted. Before long, we’d stumbled upon nightofmystery.com and there was no turning back. At first, we decided to go with the 80’s theme because that would be the easiest to find costumes for, but the circus theme was the one that really intrigued me. Just before I purchased the 80’s packet, Mom called me and said she voted for the circus. “Everyone is doing 80’s themed parties lately,” she said. “Circus would be a blast and I think we can pull it off.” So in 10 days we brainstormed, planned, distributed character descriptions, painted letters and posters, and planned some more. It was CRAZY and a little bad for my academics, but we had an absolute BLAST. More than glad that we went with the circus theme. The details were better than I ever hoped or dreamed they would be, and the costumes were outrageous fun. First off, here are the details…

My amazing roommate decorated my cake. She thought it would be so cool to make a cake with a circus tent on top, but I shot that idea down, thinking she was crazy. “I can do it,” she told me. And, boy, did she ever! It turned out fantastic! Here she is beginning her masterpiece… (and thanks, Mom, for baking the tasty cake)

Have I mentioned that I have the world’s best roommate? Not only did she decorate my cake and stay up until nearly 2:00 AM helping me with invitations, she also helped me shop for decorations and paint these adorable letters…

Yes, I am surrounded by wonderful, creative people. My mother had a hay day with the details and turned our house into a legit circus. She made these animal collars out of cupcake holders!

Thanks again to everyone who helped with party prep craziness!! The party was a smashing success and I am so thankful to have each of you in my life. And special thanks to Cassi for convincing me I needed a 22nd birthday party.

Fall 2011: Semester Highlights 1

This past semester was one filled with fantastic memories. I have several blog posts I’ve been wanting to work on for months, but have let other things get in the way. Now that Christmas break is almost over, I am finally getting around to posting the first of a few blogs, highlighting special memories from last semester.

One Sabbath while Mom was out of town, Dad treated us to a day on the lake. It was a little chilly, but sunny and beautiful. Without further ado, here is a recap of our wonderful trip to Carter’s lake…
