Class let out early Tuesday night so Mom, Kelly, and I headed for the George Bush Library for a photo shoot: my style. We had a great time and I love the beautiful pictures of Kelly that we ended up with. I’ll let the slideshow do the talking…
So far, so good. Most of the day was spent in class which has been a stretch for me. I am WAY hands on when it comes to effective learning. However, we have a fun teacher and have met many wonderful people. This afternoon we each got a turn at shooting with a light setup. There are so many of us that we each only got to take a few pictures but what we did have time for was sure fun.
Our assignment: Pick someone in the class who has a name beginning with the first letter as your own and practice on each other. I know you’re all probably wondering what girl name other than Olivia would I find, right? Well, there were no “O” people in the room so I recruited Kelly to model for me. We’ve become fast friends and she is an absolutely beautiful person inside and out. So, ladies and gentlemen, meet Ms. Kelly…
As I write this, Mom and I are sitting in Dave Newman’s Portrait Essentials class at Texas School of Photography. The program kicked off last night with 995 photographers sitting in a Texas A&M auditorium. Let me tell you, that’s a lot of photographers! Our class started at 9:00 PM and went until 10:00. Let’s just say I think we’ll be tired by the time we get home.
This morning, class began at 8:30. We’ll be in class all day with 1 1/2 hours for lunch. So far we’ve met many neat people and are having a good. time. There’s tons of information. Some of it makes since, some of it does not. Overall, though, it’s been a neat experience so far.

The Applegate family was referred to me by Dr. Darrell Bowyer, a close family friend. Having never met them before I had no idea what to expect. As soon as Ms. Ruby walked through the door I knew we were in for a fun time. Her soft blond curls, blue eyes, and adorable smile won my heart immediately.
